Welcome to the Blocker Middle School Choral Department! You have chosen to be a part of an outstanding organization, dedicated to excellence. The mission of the Blocker Singing Stings is to provide a safe and enjoyable environment in which all students can grow as musicians and singers through music reading and performance. The Blocker Middle School Choir is a team, and every individual is an integral part of the choir family.

In choir, your child will learn the basics of musical sightreading, as well as correct singing and performance technique. Students will be exposed to a variety of musical literature from various time periods, cultures, and genres, and will demonstrate musical knowledge and growth through performance and competition.

In addition, students will also develop individual responsibility, as well as commitment to others, enhanced self-discipline, and greater self-esteem. It is one of my greatest goals that students leave the classroom each day feeling confident, loved, and accomplished in the choir. 

Groups

Nonvarsity Girls Choir: A non-auditioned women’s choir who will perform at school concerts throughout the year.

Nonvarsity Boys Choir: A non-auditioned men’s choir who will perform at school concerts as well as out of school events, and UIL Concert and Sightreading Contest.

Varsity Girls Choir: An auditioned women's choir who will perform at school concerts as well as out of school events and UIL Concert and Sightreading Contest.
